MAY MINUTES

Bethlehem LWML met on May 7, 1998, at 7:30 p.m. with eleven members present.

Pastor Buchs led our devotion, the Quarterly topic, "Follow Me."

Secretary's minutes were read and approved. Edna Mae gave the Treasurer's report. We have a balance on hand of $188.34.

After the Committees reported, we continued with lots of discussion and unfinished business.

A motion was made that due to many conflicts, we have a coffee brunch to honor our four graduates and two confirmands on May 24 at 9:30 a.m. It was decided that this might work better than the pot-blessed dinner.

We discussed a "Paper Shower" for Lutheran Island Camp. Our Mission Service people will look into this.

Group I (LWML and non-LWML) will be helping serve at Tom Volker's ordination on June 14.

In discussing who goes to our LWML convention it is noted that the President and Vice President are to be the delegates.

The President and Christian Growth person are expected to go to LIC retreats. Everyone is always encouraged to attend these events. Young women are especially encouraged to attend the conventions and LIC retreats.

For an ingathering for our June 4 convention it is suggested we bring quilts, health kits, or Bibles marked for the prison ministry.

Iloise and Joan agreed to do a booth on missions at the convention. We were asked to tell about the Meyers' work in Ghana.

Joan made a motion that our pre-rally offering go to the Seminary Food Bank in St. Louis. This was passed.

We are changing our June meeting from the 4th to June 2 because of the convention. Edna Mae and Helen Werk will serve.

On June 7 we will be serving muffins, juice and coffee while the parents and friends view the Vacation Bible School projects.

Pastor talked to us about supporting a seminary student as a mission project in the future.

Pictures for the Church Directory will be taken on Friday, June 12. We were asked about having a picture of our LWML as a group or maybe with some of our projects.

Darlene Volker and Karen Buchs had the Christian Growth Feature, a Mite Box Dedication. (Our mission goal of $95,000 has been reached.) They also served a delicious lunch!
