Jim and Sandy's Farm Webpage

Welcome to Jim and Sandy's farm webpage. Years ago children were only one generation "off the farm" but now that's no longer the case, Grandma and Grandpa no longer live on the "home place". We hope to show you a little about farming and farm life.

Over 30 years ago we moved from Minneapolis back to the family farm in west central Minnesota, built a 60 cow tie stall barn, and pretty much lived in the barn! Our three children, Joanna, Becky, and Scott have grown up, married and moved away with the exception of Scott, who farms with us. We raise alfalfa, silage corn, wheat, soybeans, and corn. We recently sold our cows and are adapting to a drastic change of lifestyle! We no longer have hours of chores everyday nor a nice warm barn to retreat to in the winter. The barn cats are beside themselves and even the dog is puzzled by the change in routine. The morning the animals left all 3 kids, spouses and our grandchild were up by 6:30 a.m. to help load them up. As always, cattle seem to be a "family affair". But the farm goes on. Heifers still roam the pasture and calves still bawl at feeding time. There are fields to tend and machinery to maintain.
